Round 5 of the HOMEWRAP Series
Round five of the home wrap series got under way on the 13th May (Black Friday). Finally Darwin has hit its winter season providing the best period of weather that Darwin will see for the next 5 months. So the sky’s clear with 0% chance of rain and a coolish barmy night seen for some great racing.
ROUND 1
The night started of well for me getting a clear run in the first heat and leading for most of the duration but made some over driving errors to let Tony K through for the win, Nathan Tampe winning the round out right.
ROUND 2
Round 2 went well with the Serpent feeling the best it has. I secured a round win and with a change to the OCR circuit I felt my buggy really handled the triples well thus becoming the section of the circuit I could make considerable gains.
ROUND 3
Round three went well with a strong battle with Phil Ciccone to just make it through to gain a top 2 finish. At this point we were all finding it quite challenging to get clean laps in due to the as always competitive front runners. Buy this Time I had been feeling a little under the weather with a severe headache making me feel nauseous and not well thus considering pulling out.
ROUND 4
After taking some strong pain killers and Tony going out of his way to get me some cool water I was starting to feel much better.
To the racing this would be my worst round with a lucky 5 place just getting past Neil Ingram. I seemed to run into anyone’s buggy that was upside down on the track.
ROUND 5
With the top 4 places up for a podium position I had to make sure this round counted I was very lucky and got a half decent run to finish 3rd. This put my points total into second place overall for the night.
Overall the serpent was comfortable to drive with the current setup. I will be trying the 8 hole pistons next meet to see how they fair.
Hi All
